I/We (if minor) have read, understand, and agree to the following: I/We understand that there are many inherent risks and hazards when handling, riding, or being in the vicinity of horses. Horses may be unpredictable in nature and have been known to kick, bite, strike out, buck, rear, or bolt if they feel threatened or frightened. I/We understand that even well-trained horses with no history of causing injury may exhibit any of these behaviors at any time. I/we understand the risk of bodily injury, property damage, or death that may result from my participation in any capacity in the vicinity of horses. This includes but is not limited to grooming, leading, riding, exercising, side-walking, or cleaning stalls. I/We understand there are a significant number of horses on the premises of Affinity Ranch and I/we assume all risks of my activity on the property.
I/We agree that Affinity Ranch, its agents, employees, contractors, trainers, clients, and other affiliates are not liable for death, sickness, and/or accident, including consequential damages, caused to me except if caused by willful and wanton gross negligence of Affinity Ranch. In addition, I/we agree to defend and hold Affinity Ranch and affiliates completely harmless from all claims, demands, actions, and liabilities, which may be asserted for damages referred to above. This includes holding Affinity Ranch and affiliates not liable for any injury whatsoever caused to me, and/or any loss or damage to personal property.
Warning: Under Colorado Law, an equine professional is not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant in equine activities resulting from the inherent risks of equine activities, pursuant to section 13-21-119 Colorado Revised Statutes.
I/We grant Affinity Ranch, its employees, and/or contractors permission to seek medical attention if I am injured and not able to take charge of my own medical treatment.
Photo Release: I/We hereby consent to and authorize the use and reproduction by Affinity Ranch and the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International of any and all photographs or other audio/visual media taken of me/my son/daughter/my ward for promotional printed materials, educational activities, Affinity Ranch or PATH Intl.‘s website, exhibitions or for any other use for the benefit of Affinity Ranch, PATH Intl, and equine assisted activities. If you wish to request to not allow photos of your family, please contact the Executive Director.
AFFINITY RANCH CLIENT POLICIES:
Weather Policy:
To ensure the safety of our clients and staff, Affinity Ranch adheres to the following protocols in the event of inclement weather:
- Winter Weather: During winter, we will follow the Douglas County School District's lead. If the school district closes due to adverse road conditions, Affinity Ranch will also be closed. Notifications of such closures will be sent via our automated text messaging system.
- Summer Weather: Although cancellations are rare in the summer, lessons may be cancelled if arena temperatures become excessively high or if a major storm occurs. In such cases, we will notify you of any cancellations via phone or text message.
Helmet Policy:
For safety reasons, all clients engaged in equine activities are required to wear a helmet at all times. If you are not currently accustomed to wearing a helmet, we encourage you to begin practicing as this is a mandatory safety measure.
Affinity Ranch will provide helmets that meet the standards set by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH). Should you prefer to use your own helmet, please consult with us to ensure that it complies with PATH standards.
Partner Organizations - If you are participating in a program at Affinity Ranch with one of our partner organizations you will be subject to their specific payment and cancellation policies.
Cancellation Policy:
Please note that we do not offer refunds for classes cancelled by the client. Scheduling Adaptive Horsemanship classes involves considerable coordination, including reserving arena time, allocating horses, and arranging for volunteers and instructors. Given these arrangements and the need to cover operational costs, we cannot provide refunds for cancellations. We recognize that unforeseen circumstances such as illness can occur; however, we must uphold our financial obligations. Repeated last-minute cancellations may lead us to discuss your continued reservation with you, as there is significant demand for these services.
Exceptions:
- For pre-planned absences such as vacations, surgeries, or other significant issues, please inform us at least two weeks in advance. In such cases, we will not charge you for the missed classes.
- If Affinity Ranch cancels a class for any reason, you will not incur any charges.
