Volunteer Orientation

We will have Volunteer Orientation on  Mondays  September 25 and October 9 & 23 at 11:00.  This will be an orientation to the volunteer opportunities at PHR only.  After orientation if you are interested in volunteering during our adaptive riding lessons we will review our openings and schedule training for you.  If you are interested in other volunteer positions you will not need to schedule training and we can discuss your availability.  Please visit our Become A Volunteer Page for signing up as a potential volunteer and to sign up for orientation.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Praying Hands Ranch Volunteer!

We have many volunteer opportunities: assisting with our adaptive riding lessons as side walkers or horse leaders, fundraising, administrative activities, socializing our small animals, barn chores, maintenance, and working in the gardens. To work with horses or other animals, you must be 16 years old.

Orientation and Training are required for volunteers who assist with our adaptive riding lessons. We also ask that side walkers and horse leaders commit to at least 8 weeks of lessons, so our clients and horses have continuity. We do understand that occasional conflicts may occur, and substitutes can be arranged.

Our volunteer coordinator will contact you to schedule orientation and training for side walker and horse leader or to schedule a volunteer shift in our other areas.

To become a volunteer:

  1. Complete the volunteer registration form
  2. Sign up for an orientation
  3. Read and sign the PHR Ranch waiver and the Promise Ranch waiver (you can print and bring this with you or sign a copy in the office). We will be combining these waivers in the future, but right now we have folks sign both.

Depending on the type of work you want to do, you may be required to complete training before starting.  Someone from the office will contact you to schedule a time for you to start.

If you have any questions or do not hear back within 3 business days, feel free to call the ranch at 303-841-4043 or email our volunteer coordinator directly at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
